Jennifer Love Hewitt in all her cellulite glory. Dear Charlize literally turning the other cheek riddled with pock marks. Jennifer Garner looking like a very pale Skeletor.
Snap a picture of a celebrity sans the tons of foundation and concealer, and for sure ordinary people would lap it up (the picture, not the celebrity). Suddenly, La Lohan just doesn’t look so stellar, just some ordinary teener with too much money, drinking booze to perhaps forget the fact that she has once again forgotten to wear her underwear.
But, no. People are not just flogging the Pantyless Ones – audiences are also picking on real talents like America Ferrera for – of all things – her weight. It seems that for every Kate Winslet flashing a big middle finger against the anorexic standards of Hollywood, three Nicole Richies are tapping their gag reflexes, flashing a bony middle finger back at the plus-sized beauties.
The Jekyll-and-Hyde treatment of the ’biz has sent confusing signals to young women everywhere. While there is no doubt that Jordin Sparks is just plain gorgeous, fans of the Paris Hilton persuasion are poking fun at the AI alum, with one guy calling her “beefalo”, whatever the moron meant.
The fascination for Size Zero celebrities has set an impossible standard for impressionable teen-agers who, most unfortunately, look up at stars that they often see on the most visible media: TV and trashy magazines. So we have Nicole, Brit, Ashley, and Paris. (Never have any sympathies for them – come on – how can stars with no discernable talent earn more than me?!??! And they shave their heads and throw up to show people how disturbed they are, how they couldn’t handle fame that early – blah-blah. Give me your money, honey, and I can easily achieve world peace!).
None of these stars weigh 100 pounds. (And, may I add, none of them has been known to wear any underwear, either, but that’s digressing already.)
Is it a surprise then, that eating disorders are on the rise among young girls?
Is it a surprise, then, that teen-agers are now seeing their own parents’ shrinks?
Is it a surprise, then, that liposuction clients are getting a hell lot younger.
The new breed of Suicide Girls.
Now, Hollywood is definitely going to hell.

many stars ,just like what you have mention in this article, in the hollywood are doing something (weird things, psychotic behavoir, etc.) to have their names in magazines or become famous or to be talking with. my concerns is that young girls do what there idol in hollywood do maybe because of "obsessions". this is a normal happening in hollywood i think

very interesting piece. Let's try to look at this at another angle...Could it be that these people are unaware of their impact on trying-hard to be in-trend adolescent girls? Could it be that we are just too enamored with their unblemished gorgeousness on screen, that we frustrate ourselves to no end when we find out that in real life they are still human? Hollywood has a lot to answer for. These people may be naturally anorexic or one of those run-of-the-mill nutcases. either way, I see them as victims also.. Victims of corporate media that use them as icons to sell... and the public mould, that expect them to fit in perfectly. my two cents.

this is normal in the hollywood,
stars are people too.. but have talents,. boys and girls like to see stars because it's there idol or they like the star.. some stars make weird things to make there name popular , make there body so perfect so that many people can recognize them, young girls do what they see in the television, magazines, etc.
they do what there idols are doing, media use them as icons to sell.. beautifulness means more money to earn..

Many celebrities are just conscious in their body because they don't face the fact that in life their is changes, things may change it could be physical mental or emotional changes. So some of them are desperate to under go in surgeries
to avoid ugliness and to look like young again. People are just carried away to be like them because it is what we saw everyday in a T.V .

because of the existence of modern technology nowadays media can now transform stars into gorgeous and sexy looking body. my main concern is that teenagers especially the girls follows what they see on the stars they idolize the way they dress, act and even the body of their idols.. And that causes to be an anorexic...

Hollywood is Hollywood.Nevertheless, it's so sad to imagine how they poison the minds of us,the youth. They are the instrument that tempts, leads us to materialism and worse, overconsciousness regarding the whole totality of oneself!

On my own rearview, nowadays mass products like Mainstreams pose could have been claim as the most influential medium for manipulating the eyes of the beholder which it may lead to unnecessary acts.As a result, it depends on the youth wether they follow the current trend or not,it depends upon to them.Hollywood icons are only doing their job!.Word UP!

some teens are very much involved in any vices like smoking, drinking & gambling ang that somehow lead them to abuse themselves since they can't control it and they're addicted to it and like craving for it. tremendously this act is sometimes inappropriate for their health. Coz they dont mind wahts good for them anymore, as long as they feel good doing about it they're unstoppoble, if they can just be able to see their reflection at the mirror, maybe they woulf realize that there's something good about them if they just their self and life is just worth living..

we cannot deny the fact that celebrities are people too. they feel frustrated if no one cares or gives sympathy about them, dreamed to be as popular as they can be and feel insecure about their body. people want to look good like celebrities and it's a fact; actors, artist or even rock stars, whoever is hit in the showbiz world. nowadays one major or hit business are cosmetics and what we are wearing. we're just not conscious about it because we're consuming it already. big, big, big, more money, money, money. Donald Trump owns billions of money and yet he consider himself as a metro sexual. this game of celebrities are for people who dares to waste money or maybe not, just to look good and achieve what they want to look like. besides this is our pop culture.

i think this only show us how media can greatly influence us especially the young minds, because media is the major trend nowadays, and like the author said, those girls she mentioned had no talent and i think most of them are dumb but still they get more money than people who are working and are professionals. thats true because of course they are popular and many people especially teenagers wants to be like them...

A very disturbing truth that young women ("men") face today.. to idol other peoples fantasies, to imitate what they desire and think of it as their own. These people do what they are good at and they stick to that. Hollywood provides them a place that they would belong, in return it benefits from them. Everybody takes advantage of something they could use.

today, now what young girls see on tv, read from the magz or even heard from the radio about what new, what's in, what forms of beautification the celebrities does. young girls are willing to imitate that, why? because young girls think that in order to be beautiful to the eyes of the young guys. teenage girls thought that if they will follow what celebrities do they will be much more be beautiful than the others.

it's really a drastic case that these hollywood stars do silly things out of themselves in order to be recognized. the sad thing about it is that they corrupt our minds by showing that what they do is good, but in fact it's not. and we, the younger generation were the ones who keep on imitating them. from being a fanatic, we become paranoid and then it will cause us to be anorexic!!so sad, but it's the reality nowadays.

nowadays, adolescents' face the problem having low self-esteem and poor self-image. apparently, this self-perception are mainly because media's influence has gotten too overated and the youth sees beauty and perfection among skinny and sickly hollywood celebrities. since showbiz is somewhat a popular vanity and social aspect among people esp. the youth not knowing that it takes a lot of surgery, cosmetics, and editing to look that good on tv and in magazines. thus, their beauty becomes unnatural, superficial, and deceitful. people worry so much of blending in and following the trend to be able to gain belongingness and acceptance even if it takes to spend money and effort to be like them. whoever says that beauty is in the eye of the beholder isn't lying because natural beauty will shine especially when you know how to carry yourself with glamour and confidence.

Yes, I do agree in this article, that is really the ugly truth!!! This article wants to open our minds that the media is trying to change our perception in looking at ones beauty and sexiness. Media is trying to set our minds, persuade us and makes us believe that true beauty and sexiness...you should have a vital statistics of “36-24-36”,you should have a bigger breast and buts, you should be blond, wear expensive clothes, accessories and gadgets. The sad truth is that, we are just fooling ourselves by praising and idolizing persons specifically celebrities who are earning millions of money who are just absolutely FAKE! In fact, they are just like an ordinary person like us but still we keep on idolizing them too much. Imitate them by dieting, putting more cosmetics, liposunctions and surgeries that leads us to sickness like anorexia and cancer. Nice article miss!

CAMERA LIES. ABUSED AND INSANE CELEBRITIES. MEDIA RATINGS. PEOPLE OBSESSED.
We all know that these things are happening on Hollywood. It sends wrong impressions esp. to viewers my age. It influences teens on how they perceive beauty and sexiness, not only that but how they reflect things in life. Why fasten ourselves with these things, well in fact there are more to life to embark upon. Are these things educational? Will it change our economic status? We kept on complaining about the issues in petroleum increase and the like, but we don't realize that we people make these girls rich. It pities me that even our local actresses imitate these girls. These girls aren't the injured party, but we the public are the victims. Indeed, they are SUICIDE GIRLS.
Are we, viewers, doomed to be dupe?
Think about it.

So these celebrities have pock marks, some are fat, some want to be thin just like everybody else in the world. But the media, create it into something else.. construct a story for their profits and make an impression to the gullible ones which is "in". Maybe someday they'll place into the minds of people that fat is the new size zero then everyone who are so enamored by what media presents would binge eat than stick their fingers down their throats. More profits for Mcdonalds!

ps. sorry late post miss(no electricity, no net)
In my opinion, life is short. If having aesthetic beauty can make you proud and love yourself do it by all means. God gave us intellect to know and decides our actions. Therefore audience or people around can criticize whom they want to idolize and who has dowy beauty.
Obando....
hollywood stars that mention in the article are those who didnt care to the audience in to the one who idolize them, some expose thier body just get attention to the public and some also do public scandal.but they didnt realize the affect they made espicially to those young women.
those ladies mention above has nothing to do with theirselves. they look upon their appearance to get the attention of everyone. have you ever watch the show "the simple life?" have you notice how stupid they are in working those householdchores or activites assign to them? they should not be tolerated by teenagers. celebrities nowadays influence teenagers right now. they became obssess with these stars and started to follow the way these stars are living. but they didn't know that what they're following is stupidity...

I merely agree..hollywood is much like of a "hellywood". These young girls could not just get enough of their fame. They could get anything they want and could monopolize people esp.girls. All they do is for publicity sake like they get a drink and then just passed out in the middle of the road which causes them to be hospitalized or might as well be in jail.,rather they set trends which are not pleasing to the minds of most people, talking about cultural differences though. They really gave a misrepresentation of hollywood but then that's hollywood.

for me its a bullshit thing to know the behavior of a hollywood star we know that they are now famous...so why we keep on following them that we all know that they have money to do what they want to do...i think media needs sympathy of the people..media always do something to make the problem worst even though that the problem are not a big deal!!!!!.....if the small one's watch it or read it about the article about the scandal it can cause a negative image to the celebrities...

as an artist specially in hollywood many people really admire and want to be like them specially the children because of there innocence they don't really know of who are admirable they all knew that the artist is a star and being admire because they are physically beautiful... thus, it make the children adore the artist because of the artist is famous and beautiful they want really to be the artist to the point they follow what ever knew to that artist...the media had really a great influence in that part because without them a certain artist will not be as star.... as an artist they really make there selves beautiful and feel good to be on top of there career specially in hollywood.

yeah i think media is influence us to imitate them, but i think it is not good for the young ones if they saw this kind of picture or in the television. It is a negative results for the young ones.. Hollywood stars are very conscious with their body and what they dress, they out of limitation! and they do it, its because they want them to recognize and idolizing them.
berlyn:
As we all know that a lot of people really admired them. In fact
Celebrities have become a powerful influence on some vulnerable people because of their social position and their economic situation. There are some people who been influence by the holly wood star that because they allow them to influence their lives. Some of us thought that imitating them will be a cause of good impression. I know that there’s a huge pressure especially with girls to be thin and perfect. It is absolutely wrong. Because for me as long as my weight isn't threatening my life, why should i care if I’m not that sexy and perfect? Imitating celebs? Its like making ourselves a total crap! They are not a good role model! BUT one thing i really learned from them was that Money cannot buy you class and dignity.
